There are Michigan football fans that actually want the Wolverines to lose to Michigan State on Saturday.
What?
No way, no how.
And some fans don't want the Spartans (6-1) to just win, but embarrass Michigan (3-4).
The reason is simple. They believe an embarrassing loss would seal the fate of coach Brady Hoke and athletic director David Brandon.
Some fans want both fired and feel neither could survive with such a lopsided result.
It normally goes against being a fan, pulling for your team no matter what. But Michigan fans are so disappointed with the current football program that they're hoping an epic collapse will lead to big changes.
A Fond Farewell
Free Press baseball writer John Lowe announced his retirement Tuesday.
He leaves the Freep after 29 seasons covering the Tigers.
I worked with Lowe from 1993-'95 when I was a columnist at the Free Press.
Lowe will be missed at the ballpark. He's a true professional who loved the game and worked hard on his coverage for Tigers fans.
Every time I asked Lowe, 55, how he was feeling, his response was always the same, "outstanding."
The same can be said about his career. If you don't know, Lowe is best known for inventing baseball's quality-start statistic.
Chicken and Waffles
The best thing about the Lions' game this Sunday? You will be able to have breakfast while watching the game.
The tilt in London against the Atlanta Falcons starts at 9:30 a.m.
It's a huge game for the Lions, who are looking to close out the first half of the season 6-2.
But it won't be as easy as it looks. Yes, the Falcons are a woeful (2-5). But this game is their season. If they lose, you can stick a fork in them. They have a lot to play for.
