Rangers' Kinsler sits with bruised ribs
Rangers 2B Kinsler misses start against Tigers with bruised ribs
Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler is not in the starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers because of bruised ribs.
Kinsler says his ribs were hurt when he was hit by a Justin Verlander pitch in third inning Thursday night against the Tigers. He remained in the game for rest of Texas' 10-4 victory.
Shortstop Elvis Andrus will bat in Kinsler's leadoff position and rookie Leury Garcia will start at second Friday night against Detroit.
Kinsler has been hit by a pitch five times this season, tied for second in the American League. The three-time All-Star is hitting .302 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs this season.
