Ready for rematch: Tigers vs. A's in ALDS

Tigers open ALDS in Oakland on Friday, Oct. 4th

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers clinched their third consecutive American League central division title on Wednesday night.  The champagne was flowing and the smiles were large, but one question still remained -- who would the Tigers be playing in the opening round of the playoffs?  It's now official; the Tigers are heading to Oakland.

The Athletics lost 7-5 Saturday to the Seattle Mariners, allowing the Boston Red Sox to claim the best record in the American League and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Oakland currently holds a two-game lead over Detroit, but would prevail in any tie-breaking scenario over the Tigers.

The Tigers will open the American League Division Series with two games in Oakland on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th.  The start times of the games have not yet been announced.

The Red Sox will face the wild-card winner in the ALDS.
