Red Wings, Daniel Cleary agree to one-year deal
Earlier reports indicated Cleary would sign with Flyers
After reports that Daniel Cleary was leaving the Detroit Red Wings to play with the Philadelphia Flyers, the team announced Thursday that the veteran forward agreed to a one-year deal with the Red Wings.
Cleary came to Detroit in 2005 and helped the Red Wings win a Stanley Cup in 2008. He scored a career-high 26 goals in that Cup year.
This past season, Cleary appeared in all 48 games with Detroit, notching 9 goals and 6 assists.
Cleary is expected to join the Red Wings in Traverse City, Mich., for the remainder of the team’s training camp.
