BOSTON, Mass. – The Detroit Red Wings' season came to an end Saturday afternoon after a 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins in Game 5 of the opening round of the playoffs.
Detroit trailed Boston 1-0 after the first period after a Loui Eriksson goal at 3:27. Pavel Datsyuk continued his phenomenal series in the second period, tying the game 1-1 with his third goal of the playoffs at 14:41.

The Wings were seconds away from entering the second intermission with a tie score, but Zdeno Chara scored a power play goal with four seconds remaining and the Bruins took at 2-1 lead.
Milan Lucic made it 3-1 Bruins with a goal at 4:27, but Henrik Zetterberg answered at 16:08 to bring the Wings back to within one. Detroit couldn't manage a late goal, though, and Boston escaped with a slim 4-2 win.
The Red Wings and Bruins each got 33 shots on the net. Boston won the final four games of the series after Detroit shocked the top seed by stealing Game 1 on the road.
Boston will face the Montreal Canadiens in the second round. Montreal swept the Tampa Bay Lighting 4-0 in the opening round.
