Detroit Pistons president and head coach Stan Van Gundy has made his first splash into free agency.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Pistons have agreed to a three-year, $19 million-plus deal with former Lakers guard Jodie Meeks. Last year, Meeks averaged about 16 points per game, in about 33 minutes per.
The 6'4" shooting guard is a Kentucky product entering his 6th year in the NBA. The Pistons are looking for scoring -- Meeks shot 46% from the field, and 40% from three-point land. He started 70 games for the Lakers last year, in place of Kobe Bryant.
According to NBA/NBC writer Aaron Bruski, the Pistons have laid out an offer to Isaiah Thomas, free agent point guard from Sacramento. The deal is reportedly for $8 million and three years, which happens to be the same deal Brandon Jennings signed just last year. Some signs point to a possible sign-and-trade deal between the Pistons and Kings, but we'll have to wait and see.
