DETROIT – Among all the vehicles on display at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, pickup trucks have grabbed their fair share of attention from visitors.
It's no surprise everyone wants to get a closer look at what Motor Trend magazine calls the truck of the year: the Dodge Ram 1500. The Dodge display has been busy for the past few days with visitors flocking to get a more personal introduction to the Ram 1500.

What might be surprising is how much variety of pickups is on display at the show, and Dodge is not alone.
Over at the Ford display sits the Atlas concept pickup truck. The Atlas is what auto experts have called the next generation of Ford's legendary F-150 series. It's fitting that the concept pickup is flanked by the F-150 and the rest of the F-Series family at its Cobo Center display. Even one of Ford's first pickups is parked at the display.
If you spend some time at the Ford display you will end up learning quite a lot about the F-Series history and possible future. The staff working at the display have extensive knowledge about the vehicles and a certain brand of enthusiasm about Ford's history that seems unique to the automaker. Even Henry Ford himself – an actor, of course – is on hand to offer more information about the company.
Of course, Chevrolet is not to be outdone as far as pickup trucks go at the NAIAS. The Silverado display offers a closer look at the pickup's interior and what's under the hood. But it's the Silverado's sharp exterior and classic Chevy pickup design that has crowds gazing with impressed expression. The display also emphasizes the proud history of Chevy pickups and the innovations consumers should expect now and in the near future.
It's a new era of pickup trucks in America and it's all on display at one place.
