Professional football is the undisputed king of sports in America, but this season TV ratings have taken a hit.

During a meeting on Tuesday, owners listed several possible factors for an 11% decline for the first six weeks: Presidential debates, backlash over the Colin Kaepernick national anthem protest, unhappiness over the number of penalties called during games, and more fans streaming to mobile devices.

The first debate took place the same night as an Atlanta Falcons-New Orleans Saints Monday Night Game.

The second debate aired on a Sunday night, opposite a New York Giants-Green Bay Packers game.
