Steve Wasserman, WDIV V.P., General Manager

Steve Wasserman is vice president and general manager of WDIV-TV, Local 4, Detroit's NBC affiliate, owned and operated by Post-Newsweek Stations, Inc.

He also serves as the station's on-air editorial spokesman. He has been with Local 4 since August 2005.

Prior to coming to Detroit, Wasserman was vice president and general manager of KPRC-TV, the Post-Newsweek station in Houston. Before that, he was vice-president and general manager of Post-Newsweek's WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Fla.

He also served as vice president/station manager and news director of WPLG-TV, the Post-Newsweek station in Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

In his more than 30-year career with Post-Newsweek Stations, Wasserman's assignments have also included the roles of executive news producer for WDIV-TV, Detroit, and news director of WJXT-TV, Jacksonville. Additionally from 1985 to 1987, he was news director of WCBS-TV in New York.

Wasserman currently holds the position of secretary of NBC Television Affiliates, and is a board member of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB), the American Red Cross Blood Services in the Southeastern Michigan Region, New Detroit and the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Wasserman has a bachelor's degree in mass communications from the University of Miami. He is married with two children.
