Local 4 Honored With 2012 Murrow Award

DETROIT – WDIV-TV Local 4 has been honored for excellence in journalism with a 2012 Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). This marks the fourth year in a row in which WDIV has been recognized with a Murrow Award by the RTDNA.
WDIV Local 4 News won the top award in Region 7 of the large market TV Writing category for Flashpoint with Devin Scillian. WDIV is proud to be the only station in Detroit market to receive a 2012 Murrow Award.
RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. The Edward R. Murrow Award is considered one of the most prestigious awards a news organization can achieve, embodying the spirit of excellence in journalism.
This latest honor for the Local 4 News team follows two MAB Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for Breaking News Coverage and Weathercast, and the 2011 Service To America Award presented by the National Association of Broadcasters recognizing the station's commitment to outstanding community service.
Local 4 News is currently the #1 newscast at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. in Nielsen ratings for the Detroit television market, and Local 4 News at 11 p.m. is the highest-rated newscast of all NBC affiliates in the top 11 markets nationwide. In addition, Local 4's www.ClickOnDetroit.com and www.JustWeather.com are leading breaking news and weather websites in Michigan.
