You could call Chauncy Glover a real Southern Gentleman.
He was born and raised in Athens, Ala. and has worked on air in Alabama , Georgia and Florida . He left Florida’s sunny beaches to come to Michigan’s snowy winters in December 2011.
Chauncy came to us from Action News CBS 47 and Fox 30. There he was a special projects and general assignment reporter, noted for breaking several exclusive stories, including landing a national exclusive with the alleged “Hollywood Hacker,” Christopher Chaney was arrested and has only admitted to Chauncy to hacking into the email accounts of A-list celebrities including Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johansson and Christina Aguilera.
Chauncy was bitten by the News Bug quite early. In fact, his father built him his very own "anchor news desk" at the age of 6! That's where Chauncy "anchored" his news shows every Sunday evening after church for his family and friends. It may have been all fun and games for Chauncy's "viewers" at the time, but he was serious about television news. He later turned his hobby into a career.
He went on to study Broadcast Journalism, Music and Theatre at Troy University. He also has a degree in Public Relations. While at Troy , Chauncy became the first Mr. Troy University and is a honorary member of the school’s Journalism Alumni Association. He also graduated in the top five percent of his college class and was Awarded the Top Male Senior Award. An honor given for the highest GPA and community excellence.
Chauncy has won several awards for his work, being recognized by the Associated Press, National Association of Black Journalist, The Liberty Theater Company, Volunteers of America, The Kwanis Club, MTM Unsung Heroes and many more.
As a professional TV Host and actor, Chauncy is no stranger to the Entertainment industry. He has traveled the world in productions, like "A Raisin In The Sun," “The Whiz" "The Piano Lesson, "The Scottsboro Boys," and the "The Vegas Show" He's also made appearances in several independent films including, "Time Is Running Out," and Mamma's Boy." He even performed for the famous American Idol Judges for a ticket to Hollywood. But his proudest moment was being asked to honor the late civil rights activist Rosa Parks, by singing at her funeral in Montgomery, Alabama.
Chauncy serves in the National Association of Black Journalist, National Broadcasting Society, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Abstinence In Motion, The Arts Council, Troy University Alumni Association and the National Reading Alliance. He's also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Chauncy says his faith is a big, vital part of his life. He started singing in church at the age of five. He loves Gospel music and has directed choirs all over the United States. He's also a former Minister of Music for the Fourth Street Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia and Big Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Madison, Alabama. Chauncy was even the Student Director of his college Gospel Choir, Troy University Gospel Singers.
He's also shared the Music platform with some of the industry's best such as Donnie McClurkin, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Hezekiah Walker and even Patti LaBelle. As a playwright, Chauncy has also written, produced and starred in several of his stage plays.
His current writing projects include a book based on the sudden, tragic loss of his younger brother, Marchas, entitled "Growing up Glover." He's also working on two new plays, entitled "A 100 Buckets of Fried Chicken," and "Stimulus: The Musical."
Chauncy is a big family man! His parents are his best friends. He enjoys playing baseball, basketball and golf.
