DEARBORN, Mich. - A deadly vehicle crash closed eastbound Michigan Avenue at the Southfield Freeway for several hours Monday in Dearborn.
Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash. Dearborn police say one person was killed and five others were injured. Friends identify that person who died as 17-year-old Destiny Henderson. Police say she was doing everything right.
Police say a SMART bus struck the car which traveled underneath a pickup truck. The truck was vaulted into the median. Dearborn police say the car, a Ford Escort, was stopped at a red light at American Drive when the bus rammed into it from behind. The Escort then struck the pickup truck.
Three passengers in that car, who are all teen girls around the same age as the driver, are hospitalized in critical condition. Two of the teens in critical have been upgraded to fair condition.
The driver of the bus is hospitalized. The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
