Hall Road (M-59) construction: Eastbound traffic shifts Tuesday

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – The ongoing Hall Road construction project will force eastbound traffic to shift toward the median Tuesday afternoon between M-53 and Garfield Road.

A temporary lane will be created, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) said. Three lanes will remain open on eastbound Hall Road and work on the two remaining lanes will begin Wednesday.

MDOT said traffic on westbound M-59 will be shifted in 2-3 weeks.

More from MDOT:

  • M-59 bridge over M-53 is also having traffic shifted.
  • East M-59 bridge over M-53 will have traffic shifted over two lanes leaving two outside lanes open.
  • Work on west M-59 bridge over M-53 is expected to begin toward the end of the week and will close two lanes and leave two lanes open.
  • When west M-59 lanes close, the ramp from west M-59 to south M-59 will close. Detour west M-59 to median turn around to east M-59 to south M-53

The $60 million reconstruction project for the heavily-traveled road between M-53 and Garfield Road got underway in March. The 3.7-mile stretch is expected to be under construction for about a year and 1/2.
