Lane closures on I-96 this weekend for pedestrian bridge removal

All lanes will reopen Monday, 5 a.m.

DETROIT – Cherrylawn Street pedestrian bridge is being replaced this weekend and MDOT says a new access ramp will take its place.

The lane closures include I-96 between Wyoming Avenue and M-8 (Davison Avenue)

Closures will start Friday 9 p.m. and all lanes will reopen by Monday, 5 a.m.

The lane closures will also affect westbound I-96 between Livernois Avenue / Grand Ave. and Wyoming Ave.

Davidson Avenue will also be closed at the on and off ramps.

The Livernois Avenue on ramp and Grand River Ave. on ramps will also be closed for the weekend.

All traffic will be detoured to Grand River Avenue and will reenter at Schaefer Highway.

Eastbound I-96 will be detoured at Southfield freeway and will reenter at M-8.

I-94 and M-39 are alternate routes to I-96.

The new access ramp will meet the American Disability Act standards.
