DETROIT – Does it feel like wherever you're going or whatever time of day you go, you run into traffic in Metro Detroit?
A new study from Texas A&M University says its not just in our heads. Traffic may have dipped in the recession, but now that the economy is in drive more people are hitting the road.
"I can attest to that. I sit for hours in my car driving to and from work," said Jeff Eisenberg, of Clarkston.
The study says the average driver in Detroit spends 40 hours per year waiting in traffic. That's 12 hours less than other major cities, but that's still 40 hours a driver could spend doing other things.
"Yeah, there's plenty I could be doing with my time," said Martique Duncan, of Detroit.
The congestion is also costing you nearly $859 per year.
