Westbound Interstate 696 will be closed from US-24 (Telegraph Road) to the I-96/I-275/M-5 interchange this weekend for pavement repair, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).
The closure started at 9 p.m. Friday and will end by 5 a.m. Monday.
During the closure, westbound I-696 traffic will be detoured using southbound US-24 then westbound M-102 (Eight Mile Road) to westbound M-5, back to westbound I-696.
Beginning Monday, July 15, westbound I-696 will have multiple lanes closed during the overnight hours from Telegraph Road to the I-96/I-275/M-5 interchange in order for crews to prep for the upcoming closure. Overnight lane closures begin at 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. the following morning until Friday, July 19.
