WARREN, Mich. - All lanes of Van Dyke Avenue at Interstate 696 will be closed starting at 9 p.m. Thursday in Macomb County.
Consumers Energy needs to lay some new pipes under the road. For driver's, there is really only one option when it comes to avoiding the busiest roadway in the county.
"Mound (Road), possibly," said driver Marcus Murray, who will be forced to find a detour.
Van Dyke Avenue is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18.
"I have an office right over there so I am frequently traveling from the freeway to over there to down Van Dyke ... " said Brooke Amis, who travels Van Dyke a lot.
The construction will be on the north side of I-696. The freeway can still be accessed from the south side.
