LIVONIA, Mich. -- High winds forced an evacuation of a Livonia nursing home overnight.

About 115 residents were evacuated from the Middlebelt Health and Rehab Center, located at 14900 Middlebelt Road, Local 4 reported. Winds damaged part of a roof, which was under construction, Local 4 reported.

Rain also flooded some of the hallways, according to the station's reports.

Residents were being transported to other area nursing homes and hospitals while repairs were made. Repairs could take a couple of weeks, the station learned.

No injuries were reported.

Storms that swept through southeastern Michigan Tuesday night brought heavy winds, rain and lightning. A tornado watch was issued throughout southeastern Michigan, but expired before midnight, according to Local 4.

The storm aftermath also included downed power lines and flooded roadways.

A branch fell on power lines in Farmington Hills just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, causing the branch to catch fire, according to police. A stretch of Inkster Road was closed between Nine Mile Road and 10 Mile Road while DTE Energy crews made repairs.

DTE Energy reported that less than 10,000 customers scattered throughout the area were without electricity. Several area schools were closed because of the power outages.
