80-degree temp change on the way in Metro Detroit

Temperature swings from -40 degrees with wind chill to 40 degrees above zero

DETROIT – We are starting a warm up that brings a nearly 80 degree temperature swing to SE Michigan. Remember Tuesday morning wind chills were -40 degrees and by Saturday we may see 40 degrees above zero.

For the rest of today, hazy sun to mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the low 20s Thursday with light winds. Snow to our south is moving this way towards dinner tonight. Snow will once again be sticking to the roads and tomorrow morning's commute will be slick and slow.

The snow continues into Friday morning and average accumulations will be around 1 inch. Some will get a dusting, while others may get 1-2 inches of new snow in the morning. Again, expect a slow drive to work and school. which could mess up the commute to end the school and work week. It will be scattered, light snow leaving a dusting to near an inch of fresh snow.

We will be dry as we head into the afternoon and highs Friday will be in the mid 30s.

We should have temps near 40 degrees or warmer this Saturday. Another storm on the way means we will start the weekend with some rain and temps near 40 degrees early Saturday.  Watch out for a period of freezing rain early Saturday, but regular rain should take over quickly melting any ice.

It's going to be a sloppy, wet Saturday and there are some flooding concerns. Try to clear storm drains if you can in advance to give the melted snow a place to go.
