Clouds, light snow to move through metro Detroit

Not much snow accumulation expected, lingering chilly air through weekend

DETROITClear skies overnight combined with light wind and a fresh snowpack allowed temperatures to crash, and some of you outside of the immediate Detroit metro area saw temperatures slide all the way to near zero.

Fortunately the air was calm. So, we didn't have any wind chill to deal with.

Clouds are now increasing, and light snow will develop by mid-to-late afternoon (I don't expect much accumulation this afternoon, if any).  Snow will continue tonight and into at least the first part of tomorrow, with perhaps as much as one-to two-inches accumulating.  Any lingering snow will end Saturday night, and we should have a fair amount of sunshine on your Sunday.

Right now, I don't see any major weather problems for New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.
