February 20's record low of 8 degrees below zero set in 1934 will become history Friday morning before dawn. The morning starts with frigid lows well below -10° in Southeast Michigan. Even a light wind will force wind chills to go below -15° or -20°.

Skies will be mostly sunny in the morning and partly sunny in the afternoon.

Friday afternoon will still be very cold with high temperatures barely make it to 10° or slightly more. Wind chills remain at or below zero the entire day. Families coming downtown for the boat show it to do some ice skating must bundle up once again and dress and multiple layers and cover every extremity.

Friday evening will be cloudy with snow arriving from the west. Anyone with dinner plans past 8pm ET will counter slippery conditions. Light snow will fall through Friday night and into Saturday. By morning a good one inch or so will have fallen across the region.

Saturday will still have a chance of snow, especially in the morning and midday. Total accumulations will be up to 2 inches. Higher temperatures will arrive as highs make it closer to seasonable ranges. Actual highs will be in the low 30s when the normal high as 36.

Thankfully for many, a winter storm forming to the south of Michigan or remain mostly to the south spreading snow into the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic. Southeast Michigan will be spared on Sunday with partly sunny skies. However it will get a little colder with highs in the low 20s.

Monday and Tuesday get colder again with morning lows at or below zero and afternoon highs in the teens on Monday and around 20° on Tuesday. Snow showers are possible again Tuesday and Wednesday.
