Awesome day to start the week

But Christmas storm still on the way

DETROIT – Get set for a very nice first full day of winter, with plenty of sunshine and highs approaching 40 degrees.  Light east wind.

Becoming cloudy tonight with a chance of rain late at night. Overnight lows will occur this evening (mid 30s), and then rise during the night.  Light east wind.

Periods of rain on Tuesday, but much warmer with highs in the upper 40s!  Scattered showers Tuesday night, with lows only dropping into the low to mid 40s (remember that our average HIGH this time of year is in the mid 30s!).

More rain showers on Wednesday, with highs still in the mid to upper 40s.  Rain showers will change to some wet snowflakes sometime on Christmas Eve, but temperatures should remain above freezing all night so I don't expect much accumulation (or problems on the roads).  Wind will also increase through the night, which should help evaporate the wet pavement.

Christmas Day should be partly cloudy and windy, with highs in the mid 30s.  The computer models are split on whether wind gusts will be in the 35-40 mph range, or in the 20-30 mph range…stay tuned.  Partly cloudy Thursday night, with lows near 30.

Partly cloudy on Friday, with highs in the low 40s.  Increasing clouds Friday night, with a possible rain or snow shower late.  Lows in the low to mid 30s.

After a few light rain or snow showers to start the day, Saturday afternoon should be dry, with near steady temperatures in the mid 30s.

Mostly sunny on Sunday, with highs near 30.
