DETROIT -

A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect at 7 a.m. Saturday for several southeastern Michigan counties.

Check winter storm watch list

Those areas of central Livingston, Oakland, Macomb Counties and northward may get 6-12 inches of fresh snow by tomorrow evening. Friday’s forecast is warmer and quiet. Highs today in the low 30s feeling very good. We may see a few snow showers tonight, but most snow won’t start until early Saturday.

Snow starts early for everyone and we could see 3-5 inches of fresh snow before a transition to rain near the Ohio border.  A chance for rain, sleet, and freezing rain will be spreading north by midday. We will see some snow on the back side of this system into the evening but it will be lighter and may just throw down an additional coating.

The rain is the big variable because if it stays all snow, we will all see 5-8 inches of snow or more. But rain is a good bet midday from Monroe to Detroit and into southern Livingston, Oakland, and Macomb counties.

We have seen major changes in the forecast for this storm, so stay tuned. Check with Chuck later on Local 4 News at 4, 5, and 6pm. And, right here at clickondetroit.com.
