Becoming sunnier, still chilly and breezy

DETROIT – Clouds continue to break apart this weekend. After a cold start, it becomes a little milder at its end.

Saturday morning will have more sunshine emerge by the hour, but it will begin with cold conditions. Temps will be near or below freezing at dawn in many neighborhoods. The wind will make it feel like it's in the 20s.

Saturday afternoon will be sunnier, but it will be chilly and breezy. Football fans going to East Lansing or Bloomington, Indiana, will need layers, jackets, hats, scarves and gloves. MSU plays Maryland at 12 noon ET at Spartans Stadium with temperatures in the 40s and wind chills in the 30s during the game. The Michigan Wolverines will at Indiana University battling them on their own turf under sunshine and with temps in the 50s at 3:30pm ET.

Saturday evening will have fair skies. It will get colder with temperatures in the 40s. Lisa Lampanelli is performing comedy at Andiamo's in Warren. Defending The Caveman is at the City Theatre in Detroit. The Wish Ball for the Make A Wish Foundation will be in full swing at MGM Grand Detroit. Everyone needs to bundle up before heading out.

Saturday night will be clear and cold. Overnight lows will be in the middle 30s in Detroit and in the low 30s in surrounding neighborhoods.

Mother Nature flips a few switches to make things milder Sunday afternoon. It will be mostly sunny with highs closer to 60 degrees; nearly 10 degrees above average.

Monday will have blue skies, too. Highs will be in the low 60s.

Showers return with another low pressure system and cold front late Tuesday into Wednesday. Tuesday will become partly sunny and mostly cloudy with highs near 60 degrees. Tuesday night and Wednesday will be wet. Chillier air returns for the second half of next week.
