Bitter cold returns Thursday

DETROIT – Temps are falling fast this morning as skies clear and we get ready for two more days of winter.

Lows dropping into the single digits will feel like zero or subzero with a bit of a light breeze.

Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs rebounding into the mid and upper teens. Winds on this Thursday will be NNW 5-10 mph.

Friday will be a touch warmer, but it will be a bit more windy. Lows again in the low single digits and highs in the low to maybe mid 20s. But those winds will start cranking in the afternoon SW 10-20 mph.

This should be our last winter cold spell as all indications show warming weather heading into the weekend and all of next week.

One computer model shows some flurries around both days this weekend in spite of the news of a warm up.

But it looks very dry overall around here over the next week. Weekend highs should easily hit the mid to upper 30s, with plenty of 40s expected next week.

We may reach near 50 degrees by Wednesday. Remember to download the FREE Local4Casters Weather app. Just go to your app store and search for "WDIV."
