Brace for another bitter blast of winter weather

Subzero temps and wind chills close to -10 degrees

DETROIT – Hazy sunshine this Tuesday and things are starting to warm up.

We are seeing some thick haze or fog down in Monroe and Lenawee Counties through midday so be careful if you live or are driving south today.

It's not a major problem, but worth a mention. Highs warm into the low and maybe mid 20s this afternoon with light winds.

We'll see a few more high clouds through the afternoon as a weak line of snow showers approaches. That line will fizzle out and bring no snow here in Metro Detroit.

We will see temps near 30 degrees Thursday and Friday which will feel wonderful.

Can you believe they have 60 degree temps in Sochi for the Winter Olympics? There is a chance for another light snow maker coming in Friday morning. This is no big snow as our model data is showing less than inch of fresh snow Friday. At most, this will make things a bit slick for the Friday morning commute.

The weekend will be back into the teens and 20s with mostly dry conditions. There's a chance for a few very light snow showers or flurries, but nothing to worry about. That looks like a late Saturday, early Sunday deal but again, it's not looking real impressive.

President's Day, Monday will bring some light snow and warming temps into the 30s.

That means some rain and/or sleet could mix in. Instead of cooling behind that system, we will warm (perhaps into the 40s) in the middle of next week. We'll keep you updated if we see any changes in the snow potential through the next week.
