Detroit weather forecast for Thanksgiving parade, Lions game

Highs in upper 30s

DETROIT – Big events are here in Detroit and Happy Thanksgiving!

Let's start with the big Turkey Trot before America's Thanksgiving Parade gets going.  The race starts at 7:30am and morning temps will be in the upper 20s with a light wind W 6-12 mph. So, wind chills will knock temps down closer to 20 degrees for runners early on. We will likely see a few flurries around but scattered snow showers will come later in the day.

During America's Thanksgiving Parade from 9am to noon, temps will still struggle in the upper 20s to start and low and mid 30s by the time it wraps up. Again, a few flakes and flurries are possible but more festive than problematic. Winds will keep the ‘feels like' temps in the low to mid 20s. Bundle everyone up!

The Lions Game starts at 12:30pm Thanksgiving Day and the weather will be consistent. That means cool and cloudy with an early afternoon high temp of 35 degrees this afternoon. There's a good chance you'll walk out of the game to light snow showers which could throw down a dusting. Be careful driving home.

Friday will be colder with lows in the upper teens and low 20s and a better shot for snow. Highs will struggle near 30 degrees with a clipper system on the way. That snow will start falling in the early afternoon. We could get a quick 1" or less south of 8 Mile midday Friday which will be a hassle for thousands out Black Friday Shoppers. Some areas north of 8 Mile may get 1-2" of Friday afternoon snow. The weekend is warming nicely!
