Chilly but dry Saturday afternoon in metro Detroit

Highs in the 30s

DETROIT – The weekend in Detroit will be dry, but it will steadily get chillier and colder.

Saturday afternoon will be chilly with highs only in the middle or upper 30s if Motown area people are lucky. A brisk westerly wind will blow at 10 to 20 mph. Saturday evening will have fair skies with temperatures falling back into the 20s.

Winds will calm down Saturday night. However, temperatures will plummet into the middle teens in the city and low teens in the suburbs. Sunday will be even colder for pre-St. Patrick's Day festivities. Morning runs and parades will have temperatures in the teens for spectators and participants. When chills will be at or below zero. So families will need their winter coats and hold on to them all day long.

Sunday afternoon will be cold with daytime temperatures with temps only around 25 degrees. Wind chills will be in the teens. St. Patrick's Day Monday will still be abnormally cold. Morning lows will be back in the teens in single digits. Daytime temperatures will be in the upper 20s under partly sunny skies.

The next chance of snow or rain will be on Tuesday and Wednesday. No matter what happens spring still begins on Thursday.
