Chilly Sunday morning with sunshine on the way

Highs in the middle 50s

DETROIT – Sunday begins cold with sunshine on the way. It remains cooler than average with warmer weather later in the week.

Sunday morning will be partly cloudy and cold with temperatures in the middle 30s in Detroit and in the low 30s and upper 20s in the suburbs. Winter gear is needed, again, to stay warm going to and from service.

The Detroit Tigers take on Cleveland, again, to round out the Negro Leagues Weekend Celebration. The 1pm game will start and end with mostly to partly sunny skies. Temps during the first inning will be in the low 50s. Highs will be in the middle 50s by the final out (and a Tigers' win).

Sunday evening will become mostly cloudy with temperatures in the 40s. Aaron Lewis fans will need to prepare for chillier weather traveling to and from Motor City Casino.

Sunday night will be cloudy with a few rain showers rotating in from the north. Temps will remain above freezing. Overnight lows will be near 40°F in Detroit and in the upper 30s in the suburbs.

Monday morning will have some left over light rain. The afternoon will be drier with a mix of clouds and sun and cool conditions. Highs will be in the middle and upper 50s.

Sunnier skies return for the rest of the week with warmer air arriving. Highs will be in the low and middle 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. The mercury will rise to near 70°F by the end of the week.
