Some sun for last minute Valentine's Day shoppers

DETROIT – Wednesday morning will be partly cloudy and cold for the anyone observing Ash Wednesday early.

Temps will begin in the low and middle 20s.

The afternoon will be sunnier with highs near 40, nearly 5 degrees above average.

Weather will be dry for last minute Valentine's Day shoppers, too.

Wednesday night will become mostly cloudy with lows in the upper and middle 20s.

Clouds return Valentine's Day, Thursday with a chance of scattered light rain and snow during the middle of the day and late afternoon.  Accumulations will be light so romantic plans will not be hampered much.  Daytime temperatures will be in the middle and upper 30s.

Friday will be colder with scattered snow and highs in the low 30s.  Accumulations will be minor, again.  Detroit's cold trend continues Presidents' Day Weekend.  Saturday and Sunday will have partly sunny skies with highs near 25 and lows in the teens.
