DETROIT -

The cold air has returned and will be with us all week.

We have a few flakes on radar this morning but we don’t expect much snow today.

It’s the cold!

Highs will be near 20 degrees with some sun and clouds through the afternoon and lighter winds.

A weak clipper system will move through SE Michigan early Tuesday morning with a coating of fresh snow between 2am and 7am tomorrow. Most of your NYE looks dry after a sloppy morning commute.

Wind chills will be at or below zero early Tuesday around Metro Detroit and highs will again struggle near 20 degrees in the afternoon. West winds 10-20 mph will gust a bit stronger. Roads should be in better shape as we head through the day and as you head out for festivities at night.

More snow is heading our way Wednesday, New Year’s Day. This one will have more moisture, starting as light snow in the afternoon. The snow becomes more intense late Wednesday and early Thursday with several inches of snow likely. Highs will be in the teens Wednesday and Thursday.
