Cold, breezy with scattered snow showers Saturday night

Lows in the 20s

DETROIT – What a difference a cold front makes! Winter has returned to Detroit and southeast Michigan Saturday evening with snow showers and wind chills in the teens and single digits. Friday's 70-degree record high is a thing of the past, for now.

Saturday evening will be cold and snowy with breezy conditions. Temps will be in the 20s, but families must dress for wind chills between 8 and 18 degrees. Drivers must be careful on slippery, slushy conditions in spots, especially on ramps, bridges and overpasses.

Get your heaters cranking, again, Saturday night. As snow showers diminish after midnight, temps fall to the low and mid-20s. Wind chills will be in the single digits for anyone with late night plans.

Sunday will be sunnier with cold conditions in the morning. Temps start below freezing with wind chills in the single digits and teens for families going to services or other activities.

Sunday afternoon will be partly sunny and chilly. It won't be as chilly as Saturday with highs near 40 degrees.

Monday will be milder with partly sunny skies, again, and highs in the upper 40s. Outdoor recess will be perfect for students.

The chance of rain, not snow, returns Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be warmer, too. Highs will be in the low and mid-50s each day.

Scattered flurries or snow showers return Thursday with daytime temps back in the low- and mid-30s. Friday will be partly sunny and chilly with highs in the upper 30s.
