Cool and a bit wet Saturday

Highs only in the 50s

DETROIT – Saturday continues to feel more like early-March than mid-May in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. The chance of on and off rain remains, too.

Saturday morning will have a mixture of clouds and sun with temps starting in the upper 30s and low 40s. Scattered showers will be around so people running morning errands, families attending a graduation ceremony or parade lovers going to Highland Park for the 91st Annual Michigan Week Parade at noon will want to dress warmly and pack an umbrella to stay dry and comfortable.

Saturday afternoon will be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers still possible. Highs will be in the middle and upper 50s, which is 10 to 15 degrees lower than average.

Evening showers will fade away slowly as temperatures fall to near 50 degrees. Young gentlemen and ladies going to prom will need to remain extra vigilant on wet roads.

It becomes colder, again, after midnight with lows near 40 in Detroit and in the 30s in the suburbs. It is a good idea for pet owners to keep their furry family members indoors.

Sunday will be sunnier and milder. Detroiters may still need their jackets during outdoor little league games and while boating. Afternoon temperatures will be in the low 60s.

Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny with high temperatures continuing to increase. Mornings and nights will be chilly with lows in the 40s. Daytime highs will be in the low and middle 60s.

Just when temperatures get back to "normal" (near 70 or in the low 70s), the chance of showers returns Wednesday and Thursday.
