Cool and clear Saturday starts sunny weekend

The first half of Detroit's weekend shines bright, with loads of sunshine

DETROIT – The first half of Detroit's weekend has sunshine. The second half has showers. Michganders can bask in the warmth Saturday, with umbrellas at the ready, before going back to work and school.

Saturday morning will be cool and clear with temperatures beginning in the middle and low 50s. It will be perfect for all of the energy building at the Motor City's Chene Park for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Warriors will be celebrating with members of the Local 4 News Today team under sunshine and rising temperatures. 

Saturday afternoon will be perfected for the newly christened Mt. Elliot Park Plaza, which is a water park along the Detroit River. Skies will be sunny, and highs will be just over 80 degrees. Families will need sun block for everyone before reaching the beach. The same is true for people going to the Ann Arbor Greek Festival.

The Detroit Tigers take on the Boston Red Sox Saturday evening. Conditions will be perfect for baseball when it begins just after 7pm. Temps will be in the 70s at Comerica Park.

Saturday night will become mostly cloudy and remain mild with lows near 60. There is a chance of showers by dawn.

Sunday will have a chance of showers in the morning and during the middle part of the day. Highs will be near 75 degrees, but little league fields will be soggy for morning and mid-day games.

Monday will be sunnier with spring-like warmth. Highs will be near 75 degrees, again. The chance of showers increases late Tuesday and on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the middle and upper 70s with enough sun.
