Cool start with thundershower chances later across SE Michigan

Good Wednesday morning! We have cool temperatures to start your Hump Day with most Metro Detroit suburbs in the mid and upper 40s to low 50s as you head out for the day and that means a light jacket or sweatshirt for the kids at the bus stops early. We will see a mix of clouds and sun through the morning hours with highs stopping in the mid and upper 60s, and increasing rain and thundershower chances after lunch.  Scattered showers will be coming and going from 2pm to 6pm with a few showers hanging on in our north zone through the evening.

Our local theme of cool air and scattered afternoon rain and thundershowers will continue tomorrow as well. Most of Metro Detroit will again wake up in the 40s Thursday and highs will struggle in the low and mid 60s. There’s a little more moisture tomorrow, so showers could be a little heavier or persistent through the afternoon and evening. A few showers may leak into Friday morning before clearing.

So, look for skies to clear up mid morning Friday with afternoon sun trying to bring Metro Detroit highs back to near 70 degrees. We may fall just short, but look for a very slow warm up as we head into the weekend expecting upper 60s to low 70s and tons of sunshine both weekend days.  You can track sky conditions, and shower chances with our Local4Casters app.
