LAKE ST. CLAIR, Mich. -

At about 8:30 p.m. Monday another quick-hitting storm tore across Macomb County with heavy rain, hail and high winds.

It was exactly like what Mark Ralph and his wife got caught in Monday afternoon out on the lake.

"Big waves started coming and the hail and the rain and the wind, and the first big wave over the bow took us down and the second one just filled the boat," he said.

Macomb County Sheriff's deputies rescued Ralph and his wife. They had been in the boat for about an hour. The couple are safe now because they did all the right things.

"As long as you follow the rules of safe boating, you stick with boat, and we got our cellphones above the water level so that we were able to call 911," Ralph said.

Once the boat gets checked out, Ralph is eager to get back on the water. He offers great advice for every boater.

"You all need to know exactly what you're going to do when you're out on that boat, because you're not going to have any time to be prepared. It hits in a matter of seconds, and your boat is under water," he said.
