Dangerously cold wind chills getting worse!

DETROIT – Wind chills are still dangerous holding steady or getting worse through the afternoon. Winds are picking up SW 15-25 mph gusting 30-40 mph at times this afternoon. So, a Wind Chill Advisory will continue through 4pm Friday. It will feel like -15 to -30 degrees making frostbite and hypothermia major health concerns. We will also so blowing snow on some of the roadways so be smart and safe today. That includes checking on your neighbors and pets. Snow will move into the Thumb region and our far northern counties later this afternoon. But, we don't expect to see snow going full tilt here until 8pm. Snow will be heavier in our northern and eastern counties with a few dry pockets filling in on the western half of SE Michigan.

We will wake up with a couple of inches of fresh snow with rising temps early Saturday. West of Hwy 23 0-2" and east of Hwy 23 will see 2-4" possibly. The warmest day ahead is Saturday in the 20s, but it will dropping in the early afternoon. With additional light snow showers on and off tomorrow, the winds will keep whipping WSW 10-20 mph.
