Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday

Temps in the upper 30s

DETROIT – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Detroit and all of Southeast Michigan from now until 10 a.m. ET, Saturday. Once the fog goes away, warmer air arrives with spring-like conditions all weekend. This despite cloudy skies.

Drivers must use extreme caution on the roads Friday night and Saturday morning. Fortunately, temperatures remain above freezing, so there is little to no concern about ice. However, visibility will be extremely low all night and much of the next morning. Low-beams must be used to see and be seen. Motorists must watch for pedestrians, too. Overnight lows will be in the upper 30s.

Saturday will start with foggy, damp conditions in the morning. Families will need to remain careful on the region's highways and byways. Also, factor on extra time getting to and from morning services and activities, such as the Meridian Winter Blast in Campus Martius or the 2017 Auto Show in Cobo Center.

Saturday afternoon will be drier, clearer and warmer. It remains mostly cloudy, but temps will get a big boost from southerly winds. Highs will be in the low and middle 50s; over 20 degrees above average.

Sunday will have a few morning showers. Then it becomes warm, again. Highs will be in the low 50s under mostly cloudy skies.

Rain is likely Monday with cooler air moving in. Highs will still be 10 degrees above average. Daytime temps will be in the low 40s and people use their umbrellas outdoors.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and chilly to cool. Morning temps will be in the 30s. Afternoon temps will be in the low and mid 40s. Wednesday will see a mixture of rain then snow as a new frontal system arrives.

Once the front passes, it gets colder Thursday and Friday with scattered snow showers. It will be seasonably cold. Highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.
