DETROIT -

Cleaning up all the snow and making way for safer travels on the roads is the main objective right now for southeast Michigan road crews.

The city of Detroit, Oakland County Road Commission, Wayne County Road Commission, Washtenaw County Road Commission and Macomb County Department of Roads have plans for the rest of Friday and the weekend -- which is expected to include more snowfall.

List: Snow emergencies declared across SE Michigan

City of Detroit snow plan:

CLEAN UP: On Friday and Saturday, 40 city crews will be rotating between 12 hour shifts to clean up secondary streets that they haven’t gotten to yet. They’ll be out both days from 12 p.m. – 12 a.m.

RESIDENTIAL: The three independent plowing companies to clean up residential areas are 80 percent done with their routes. They will be working throughout Friday afternoon and should be done before 5 p.m. They will be brought back to work Sunday or Monday if another 6 inches of snow falls.

SUNDAY: 40 crews will be rotating between 12 hour shifts to cover new snowfall. Main roads will be hit 1st: Jefferson, Warren, Livernois, Wyoming.

HAULING SNOW: The city has private contractors hauling piles of snow out of subs and off sides of roads. That snow is taken to a lot on 24th and W. Jefferson -- only ONE of those crews will be out on Friday.

Wayne County Road Commission plan:

--- Friday: More than 90 trucks out cleaning up until 7 p.m. They'll be salting main roads (sun is helping make that work) and clearing secondary roads. They are also removing snow from shoulders of freeways to make room for more snow to come.
-- Saturday: Crews will be off to rest until first snow fall crosses Wayne County borders in the evening.
-- Sunday: Full fleet will be out all day/night rotating drivers to get as much clean up done before Monday morning commute.

Oakland County Road Commission plan:

-- Friday: Clean up mode, limited crews working on secondary streets
-- Saturday: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Half of the 106-truck fleet will be out in clean up mode, then sent home to get rest
-- 2nd storm: Once snow starts falling, crews will be dispatched Saturday night through Monday

Macomb County Department of Roads plan:

-- Friday: Regularly staffed for clean-up, hitting subdivisions and secondary roads
-- Saturday: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m., limited crews continue clean up
-- 2nd storm: Once snow starts falling, crews will be dispatched Saturday night through Monday

Washtenaw County Road Commission plan:

-- Friday: Clearing secondary roads, crews out until 6 p.m. Friday night
-- Saturday: Crews on middle and eastside county coming back at 6 a.m. for more clean-up work 4 to 6 hours, then send them home to rest -- 4 person night crew Saturday night
-- Sunday: Entire day crew -- which is 46 plow trucks/salt trucks -- will be called in at 4 a.m. for 16-hour shifts. Four-person night patrol back in Sunday night, day crew back in at 4 a.m
-- Monday: Crew on for 16 hours
-- M-14 update: There were patches of ice on bridges and overpasses, salt was not affective -- they put sand down but sun helped with salt
