Detroit holiday weekend weather forecast: Warm with precipitation

DETROIT – A very mild start with clouds blanketing Metro Detroit and temps in the upper 20s to low 30s as you head out.

The roads are a bit slippery with some melting but no wet weather today. Instead, cloudy skies become partly cloudy and highs will hit the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. The winds will make it feel cooler but they will not be too strong WSW 7-13 mph gusting to near 20 mph at times.

Friday forecast

We start with sun Friday with temps around 22 degrees as you head out early tomorrow for work or Holiday travel. Clouds slowly increase in the afternoon and evening ahead of a little wintry mix by late evening as daily highs hang in the mid and upper 30s. That mix will likely turn to all snow overnight and will likely lay down a quick inch around Metro Detroit with a few areas getting a little more by early Saturday. If this stays as a rain, snow mix ... it will obviously cut down on any accumulations.

Saturday forecast

Saturday will warm up even with a fresh coating of snow. Highs will be in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees and warming into Christmas.

Sunday -- Christmas Day

An approaching storm will bring rain to the area late on Christmas Day -- more like the evening hours with Christmas temps in the low 40s. Look for a good melting rain into Monday as we see temps in the mid 40s and gusty winds and some minor concerns for flooded streets.
