Detroit weather forecast: Ready for another sharp change?

Even colder air is on the way

DETROIT – Temperatures this afternoon were a good 25 degrees or so colder than yesterday afternoon, so we all noticed that change.

But get ready for an even sharper blast of cold air that will arrive just in time for the weekend -- we'll really feel that one.

Tonight, just expect lots of low clouds, with lows around 50. Light north wind.

Clouds will hold well into the day on Wednesday, but we should start seeing some breaks develop by late afternoon. Highs in the mid 60s. Light east wind.

Partly cloudy Wednesday night. Lows in the low 50s.

Partly cloudy on Thursday, although clouds should tend to increase by mid-afternoon. Highs in the mid 70s…but don't get used to it!

Rain develops Thursday night, with lows in the upper 50s.

The computer models have minor differences in the timing of the cold front bringing our rain Thursday night into Friday. At this point, let's plan on rain continuing at least into Friday morning, with the possibility for some partly cloudy skies IF the front clears the area by midday. Highs in the mid 60s.
