Excessive heats keeps grip on SE Michigan

Excessive Heat Warning continues through 8pm

DETROIT – The Excessive Heat Warning remains for the rest of our Friday daylight hours. That means heat indices will once again be in the triple digits making it a health danger to many people and pets. Highs today around 94 degrees will feel like 100 to 105 degrees and gusty winds SW 10-25 mph with stronger gusts. The heat comes to a violent end with the chance for severe weather into the evening. We will see scattered pop up storms with gushing rains and lightning this afternoon and evening, but the stronger storms will likely be later in the evening. Winds may hit 60-70 mph and hail 1" in diameter possible with these storms

A few morning storms may linger early Saturday and the cooler air won't likely take shape until the late afternoon. So, highs will be in the mid to upper 80s with just an isolated shower chance early in the afternoon. The late afternoon and evening will bring a noticeable drop in temps and humidity.

So, we wake up Sunday morning with lows near 60 degrees in the most comfortable air we've had for some time. In fact, afternoon highs will struggle to get out of the 70s. Sunday and Monday look to be the pick days of the next week with highs near 80 degrees and lower humidity.
