At this point, you've probably heard that last night's official 3.1 inches of snowfall at Detroit Metro Airport put us over the top for our all-time snowiest winter, with 94.8 inches of total snow for the season. And since some of you are still asking, I'll say it again: Seasonal snow means all snow that falls from July 1 through June 30, which means that everything from our first snow in the fall to our last snow in the spring counts.
Forecast:
Lingering afternoon snow showers will quickly come to an end, and skies will clear overnight. That, combined with the fresh snowpack and wind becoming calm, means that that temperatures will crater. Many of us will fall into the teens, with temps probably holding near 20 in the Urban Heat Island. Detroit's official record low for Wednesday is 17 degrees, set way back in 1875, and we'll challenge that low tonight.
Wednesday:
Wednesday will feature mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid 40s and southeast wind at 8 to 12 mph. It will be partly cloudy Wednesday night, with lows in the low 30s.
Thursday:
It will be partly cloudy on Thursday, with highs back up near 60! Increasing clouds Thursday night, with lows in the low 40s.
Friday:
Good Friday isn't looking very good, weather-wise. A chance of rain showers, then mixing with or changing to some wet snow late in the day or Friday evening after a cold front moves through. Highs in the low to mid 50s, with lows Friday night in the upper 30s.
Weekend:
Mostly sunny on Saturday, with highs in the low to mid 50s. Increasing clouds Saturday night, with lows in the upper 30s.
Becoming mostly cloudy on Easter Sunday. One computer model (the GFS) brings us a chance of afternoon showers, while another model (the ECMWF) holds off any rain until Sunday night into Monday.
