Forecast: Dry, lower humidity Wednesday in metro Detroit

DETROIT – Today's rain was the most we've seen in a week and a half. It's been pretty light in most spots.

Higher totals have been in northern Oakland, Lapeer and Genesee counties. But drier air is settling in for the near term.

Tonight, what's left of the cloud cover will disappear, allowing plenty of sunshine to greet us early Wednesday morning. Temperatures will be cooler with lows in the mid-50s. Plus, humidity will be lower so very comfortable sleeping weather lies ahead.

Wednesday forecast:

On Wednesday, sunshine starts us out but high clouds will increase going into the afternoon. Humidity stays low while temperatures will return to the mid-70s for highs. Wednesday night our next chance of rain rolls in after midnight. But this rain shouldn't get much further north than Detroit. So areas north of 8 Mile Rd. should stay dry. Even those who see rain will be dry by noon on Thursday.

Weekend forecast:

Rain chances return for the weekend, but we're not looking for a washout. Nevertheless, expect to see a hit-or-miss thunderstorm both weekend days. Temperatures will be slightly warmer but still below average.
