Forecast: Isolated storms possible with heat in metro Detroit

DETROIT – It's the summer we thought we'd lost.

Temperatures near 90, with high humidity, will take us through most of the 10-day forecast. But storm chances will be tricky to track down over the same time frame.

Let's start off with tonight:

Patchy fog will develop again in parts of the area overnight. But with even higher levels of humidity, low temperatures won't be able to dip below 70 degrees.

Wednesday forecast:

On Wednesday, once the fog lifts, sunshine will again boost temperatures well into the upper 80s. There will be a few isolated storms around in the afternoon. Any of these could bring gusty winds and heavy downpours, but they'll fade around sunset.

Thursday forecast:

Thursday and Friday bring the best chances of thunderstorms in the forecast, but that won't really cool us off much, or scour out the humid airmass in place. Expect highs to hit the mid-to-upper 80s.

Right now the Labor Day weekend looks dry, with similar temperatures and humidity to what we'll experience through the week, highs in the mid-to-upper 80s and lows close to 70 in the morning.

We'll get some relief from the heat by Tuesday of next week.
