Forecast: Light sprinkle possible tonight in metro Detroit

DETROIT – Before we all get our dresses over our head that summer is gone, just hang on a minute.

We do have a pretty expansive low pressure center hanging out in the northern Great Lakes. And that low will keep clouds around and temperatures on the cool side for the first part of this week. But there is some improvement by late in the forecast.

Tonight, we'll stay mostly cloudy with a chance of a light sprinkle through the evening. But most of us will stay completely dry. Temperatures again will fall into the low-to-mid 50s by sunrise.

Tuesday forecast:

Tuesday, cooler air will continue to move in. Our best chance at widespread sunshine will be around sunrise. After that, clouds will be on the increase again with another chance at some late-day sprinkles. But cooler highs will barely hit 70 degrees in the afternoon. That should be our coolest day of the forecast.

Wednesday forecast:

Wednesday, won't be much different with mostly cloudy skies and an outside chance at a afternoon or evening sprinkle. Highs will be slightly milder in the low-to-mid 70s.

We'll get steadily milder and see more sunshine as the week progresses. That will boost temperatures above 80 by the weekend, and even the mid 80s by later in the 10 Day Forecast.

Other than an early sprinkle, the only widespread rain chance is on early Sunday, but even that chance isn't a guarantee.
