Forecast: Rain ends Wednesday evening

Get ready for some sunshine!

DETROIT – As of the time I'm posting this, rain has ended north of 8 Mile Road.

For those of you farther south, it'll gradually diminish early this evening. Skies will then clear overnight, with lows dropping into the upper 40s to near 50. Very light north wind.

Some of us might see a patch or two of fog to start the day on Thursday but, otherwise, expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 70s. North wind at 5 to 10 mph. Mostly clear Thursday night, with lows in the upper 40s to near 50.

Mostly sunny on Friday, with highs in the mid 70s. Mostly clear Friday night, with lows in the mid 50s.

Mostly sunny on Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s. Saturday looks like a perfect day for the Susan B. Komen Race 4 The Cure taking place downtown (the Local 4 News Morning team will be there -- come on down and cheer them on!), as well as for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life (I'll be at the event at West Bloomfield High School celebrating my 25th year as a cancer survivor...the public is welcome to come and walk laps in honor or memory of anybody affected by cancer...come on out and say hi…it starts at 10am and continues all day and night).

Becoming partly cloudy Saturday night, with lows in the upper 50s.

The computer models are not in agreement on the weather system affecting us on Sunday. The GFS and CMC models bring a weaker system with less moisture, which would mean only a scattered shower chance. However, the normally reliable ECMWF model brings a better developed surface low just south of the state, which would spread a more consistent area of rain across the area. I'm just not sure at this point which set of models has the better handle on things, but hang with me on this and I'll keep you posted.

Weekends are important to you and me (I'm a professional when it comes to weekends), so I'll watch this closely. By the way, highs Sunday appear to be in the mid 70s.

Then expect dry weather with some sunshine for the start of next week.
