Forecast: Scattered thunderstorms tonight in metro Detroit

DETROIT – Thunderstorms are still meandering across a few spots this evening.

They've dropped some impressive rain amounts: Radar estimates of more than two inches near Tecumseh, and 1.2 inches north of Monroe. These thunderstorms will be around through late evening, with possibly a rogue shower until just after midnight. Otherwise overnight warm and humid conditions continue with a low near 70.

Tuesday forecast:

Tuesday will feel similar with slightly cooler highs in the mid 80s. Most of us will be under a mix of sun and clouds through the entire day. However a stray afternoon thunderstorm isn't out of the question.

Wednesday forecast:

Wednesday will be our most active weather day. We have a slight risk for severe weather... that's a category 2 risk (out of 5). And we expect to see these storms more area-wide compared to the isolated cells today and Tuesday. Even though temperatures won't be quite as warm Wednesday as today's highs, we'll have more lift in the upper levels to fuel the storms.

Humidity levels decrease after Wednesday's stormy finish. Temperatures drop as well -- for awhile at least.
