Forecast: Showers, storms Tuesday in metro Detroit

DETROIT – Here we are almost a week into July and we're just now getting to average high temperatures in the mid-80s.

In fact, our warmest temperature all year has been 90 degrees and we only got there once. There are some warmer numbers in the forecast, but we'll go through yet another cool-down first.

Monday night we'll be under partly cloudy skies and dry conditions. But as the humidity increases through the night, our low temperature will only fall to 70. Winds will be light and out of the south. A line of thunderstorms in Lake Michigan this afternoon should weaken overnight. And our main round of wet weather this week will arrive tomorrow morning.

Tuesday forecast:

On Tuesday expect showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the late morning and early afternoon. Temperatures shouldn't rise much above the upper-70s with the clouds, showers and thunderstorms expected. There's a very slim chance that some of these storms could be strong enough to bring some gusty winds. But we are not anticipating widespread severe weather. A cold front will chase the storms out during the drive home tomorrow, and we'll spend the evening dry, less humid and with some sunshine before dusk.

Wednesday forecast:

Wednesday will be dry with temperatures staying in the 70s for highs. Then our next chance of rain arrives on Thursday, although most of the day will be dry.

Warmer temperatures arrive for the weekend, but we'll likely have a shower or storm on Sunday.
