Forecast: Sunny, warmer Friday in metro Detroit

DETROIT – So those 3 hours of morning sunshine didn't last long.

North winds off Lake Huron trapped moisture near surface and led to the widespread clouds that, again, kept us gray through most of the day. But things are looking up for Friday!

Overnight, clouds will thin and temperatures will still be unseasonably cool in the low to mid 50s.

Friday forecast:

Friday, even though there will be *some* clouds around, especially in the afternoon, sunshine WILL find its way around them. Temperatures will rebound into the mid 70s. That's still about 5 degrees below normal for this time in late August.

Saturday forecast:

Saturday will bring our best chance of rain, but not until the evening. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms after temperatures hit the mid-to-upper 70s in the afternoon.

Sunday forecast:

Sunday, there is less of a chance of a shower or thunderstorm, but highs will be close to 80.

Then it's mid 80-degree highs as far as the eye can see -- with sunshine, no less. Morning lows will be much warmer in the mid-to-upper 60s with humidity staying put.
